Cookie storage policy
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site.
- First-party cookies are cookies set by the website you are visiting. Only that website can read them. In addition, a website may potentially use external services that also set their own cookies, known as third-party cookies.
- Persistent cookies are cookies stored on your computer that are not automatically deleted when you close your browser — unlike session cookies, which are deleted when the browser is closed.
When you first visit our GuideGlare website, you will be asked to accept or refuse cookies. We will remember your choice, and you can change it at any time (see below).
The purpose is to enable the site to remember your preferences (such as language or the site's appearance) for a certain period of time.
Cookies can also be used to create anonymised statistics about site browsing.
How do we use cookies?
The GuideGlare website predominantly uses "first-party cookies". These are cookies set and controlled by us (Explicaire s.r.o.), not by an external organisation.
Some external services we use (e.g. analytics, advertising or live chat) store their own third-party cookies — but always only on the basis of your consent. You can fully use our site without granting it.
The 3 types of first-party cookies we use are:
- Storing user preferences
- Ensuring the operability of our website
- Collecting analytics data (about user behaviour)
User preferences
These are set by us, and only we can read them. They remember:
- whether you have agreed to (or refused) the use of cookies on this website.
Local storage and session storage
In addition to cookies, we also use similar technologies for storing data in your browser — local storage and session storage. We use them exclusively as a first party, in particular for:
- remembering your preferences (e.g. the site's appearance, language, your cookie consent choice),
- the operation of our free tools (e.g. daily usage limits, the conversation history of the free chat stored only in your browser, temporary handover of text between tools),
- technical identifiers for traffic measurement.
This data remains stored in your browser, is not shared from it with third parties, and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser data.
List of third parties
Third-party analytics and marketing tools are only activated after you give your consent via the cookie banner. We work with the following third parties:
- Google (Privacy Policy) – The use of Google services is based on analysing your visits to the GuideGlare website using Google Analytics.
- Meta (Facebook) (Privacy Policy) – In advertising on Facebook and Instagram, we may use standard advertising, re-engaging visitors (retargeting) or the Lead Generation pre-filled forms feature.
- LinkedIn (Privacy Policy) – In advertising on LinkedIn, we may use standard advertising, re-engaging visitors (retargeting) or the Lead Generation pre-filled forms feature.
- Seznam.cz (Privacy Policy) – In the Sklik service, we may use standard advertising or re-engaging visitors (retargeting).
Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising
We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioural metrics, heatmaps and session replay. Website usage data is captured using first- and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies. Clarity cookies are only stored after you consent to analytics cookies; without consent, the service operates without persistent identifiers. For more information, please visit the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Google Analytics and Google Ads
We use Google Analytics, operated by Google Inc., to analyse the website using cookies. Google Analytics is only loaded after you consent to analytics cookies, and the analysis is carried out anonymously — your IP address is anonymised before the data is transmitted to Google. Data associated with cookies stored on Google's servers is retained for 14 months and then deleted.
On our free tools (pages in our free tools section) we display advertisements via the Google AdSense service (Google Ireland Limited). Google and its advertising partners use cookies to display, measure and personalise ads and to prevent fraud. In the European Economic Area, personalised advertising is only displayed with your consent, which we collect via Google's consent message; you can change your choice at any time. For more information on how Google uses cookies in advertising, see the page How Google uses cookies in advertising; personalisation can be managed in Google Ads Settings.
tawk.to (live chat)
We use the tawk.to service (tawk.to Inc.) for live chat on the website. The chat widget is only loaded after you consent to analytics cookies; the service then uses cookies to maintain the conversation and recognise a returning visitor. For more information, see the tawk.to privacy policy.
How can you manage cookies?
